nd(1985)-B 50 Pai Indira Gandhi PR69DCAM PCGS #784032

[RG-075]* nd(1985)-B India 50 Paise Indira Gandhi PR69DCAM { PCGS-5 }. The life of Indira Gandhi spanned nearly 70 years, serving 11 of those as Prime Minister of India. Although she shared the famous name of Mahatma made famous for non-violent protest, they were not related. This copper-nickel gem is one of four coins made to pay tribute to Indira Gandhi following her assassination by her Seik bodyguards in 1984. This PQ gem example was a one-year issue. It has no date of issue and is minted in Bombay the year following her death. The mint for proofs is designated by the "B" mint-mark beneath the dash between the two dates distinguishing it from mint-state specimens that would have a dot and no mint mark there instead. This was part of a 4-coin proof set offered with the 50 Paise, 5 Rupee, 20 Rupee and 100 Rupee coins. This coin has terrific shimmering mirrored surfaces with mint-fresh luster offering wonderful eye appeal. This is one of 8 non-USA coins I acquired for this set pre-graded in a PCGS holder.
