Purchased Feb 16, 2021 from Dalla/Fort Worth TX, received Feb 25, 2021. At the time, the midwest was experiencing one of the worst winter storms on record. Texas was extremely hard hit with major energy problems due to the cold. The coin transaction was conducted through e-bay. Here's the conversation I had with the seller: From Seller: I am so sorry to bother you early in the morning. We are in the center (Ft. Worth, TX) of this winter storm. We lost electricity, heating, water, cell phone signal, and wifi. It is pretty cold here. All the USPS, UPS and other services were shut down due to the blackout. We do not know how long will this last. The local government is trying their best to get everything back on time. I am currently staying in a friend’s house in Dallas. They have early morning; late night window breaks to access to internet and electricity for around 15 minutes each time. I will do my best to ship the package as soon as possible when USPS is back to work. Thank you for your patience and understanding. My response: Thanks for the timely communication in the midst of dire circumstances. I completely understand, no hurry. Be safe and I hope the storm clears soon. Having been through similar things here I understand how stressful it can be and hope you can have some peace through the turmoil. From seller: Thank you for your kindness and understanding. We got electricity and water this morning. The package has been shipped out immediately after the power was back. I also put a silver BU French-Indo China silver 10 Cents as a small gift. I know the value of the silver coin is more than this coin. I am willing to do so because I believe kindness is priceless. Thank you again for your kindness and patience.

I actually have two of these coins. If I was a better judge, I would have submitted the other one. I think one was in a mint set and one was stand alone. Well, if at first you don't succeed, try try again.

Purchased Feb 12, 2021 from Tallinn, Harjumaa, Estonia, received March 3, 2021. Coin availability fluctuates widely. Brandywine indicated some trouble with this coin, but when I was looking there were multiple available. Was fortunate in that the source had multiple COTY coins and was able to purchase several and have them shipped in one parcel. The Kalevala (Finnish: Kalevala, IPA: [ˈkɑle̞ʋɑlɑ]) is a 19th-century work of epic poetry compiled by Elias Lönnrot from Karelian and Finnish oral folklore and mythology, telling an epic story about the Creation of the Earth, describing the controversies and retaliatory voyages between the peoples of the land of Kalevala called Väinölä and the land of Pohjola and their various protagonists and antagonists, as well as the construction and robbery of the mythical wealth-making machine Sampo, while mythology reaches its decision on the coming of Christianity. The Kalevala is regarded as the national epic of Karelia and Finland and is one of the most significant works of Finnish literature with J. L. Runeberg's The Tales of Ensign Stål and Aleksis Kivi's The Seven Brothers. The Kalevala was instrumental in the development of the Finnish national identity and the intensification of Finland's language strife that ultimately led to Finland's independence from Russia in 1917. The work is also well known internationally and has partly influenced, for example, J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium (i.e. Middle-earth mythology). Have always been a fan of Tolkien, did not know his inspirations included Finland.

This is a pre-production sample of what the coin was going to look like. Very few made. I have an interest in military history and thought it was interesting to see English and French commemoratives of D-Day.

Always had a great deal of respect for Marie Curie. She was a brilliant woman. Partly because of the tremendous amount of simple physical labor she undertook. She processed a lot of ore. From Wikipedia: "The Curies undertook the arduous task of separating out radium salt by differential crystallization. From a tonne of pitchblende, one-tenth of a gram of radium chloride was separated in 1902. In 1910, she isolated pure radium metal."

Purchased Feb 21, 2021 from Hessen, Germany via ebay.de. Received Mar 10, 2021. Submitted for grading as part of Submission#227323. Part of my motivation for collecting this coin was to do a public service. None had been graded by PCGS and there were no photos of it available. Wanted to try and expand and complete the COTY list. Also I'm something of a military history buff and I like the coin. Technically the coins says Centenairre L'Armistice on it but all the COTY and many other sources refer to it as the People's Jubiliation. The obverse and reverse form a single continuous image.

Purchased Jan 19, 2021 from Little Rock Arkansas, received Jan 25, 2021. Have been a Tolkien fan since I first read The Hobbit in fourth grade. My Dad was a truck driver. We broke down in Alamogordo NM and were stranded there for 4 days. Had Fellowship of the Ring with me and read it multiple times because there was nothing else to do. Bought this as a set. Delayed getting it graded because I wanted to grade all three coins at the same time and wasn't willing to give up COTY grading slots to personal interest coins. Finally sent them in Aug and received them back in Oct. Of the three coins, Sauron at MS68, Frodo at MS67, and The One Ring graded the lowest, sigh.

Purchased April 21, 2021 received May 13, 2021 from Riga Latvia. I've always been fascinated by space exploration. Yuri Gagarin was a Russian Cosmonaut who was the first man in space on April 12 of 1961. Kennedy would deliver his speech inspiring America into the space race on September 12, of 1962. This coin actually shows a 42 meter tall monument in Gagarin Square on Leninsky Ave. It's made of 12 tons of titanium. It was built in 1980 for the Olympic Games. The inscription reads 30 years of human spaceflight.

Purchased Feb 1, 2021 from Kyiv, Ukraine. Received Feb 19, 2021. I marvel that I don't remember ever seeing Christ on US coins, but that a country that was formerly a part of the USSR that we were taught was an atheistic country, allows expressions of Christian faith on their coins.
