关于此套币: Each year the Royal Mint strikes small silver 4p, 3p, 2p and 1p pieces for the Royal Maundy. The 1p is the smallest coin made by the Royal Mint. The purses containing the coins are distributed by The Queen on Maundy Thursday to as many elderly men and as many elderly woman as there are years in her age. The Ceremony is based on Our Lord's act of humility when, after the Last Supper he washed the feet of His Disciples. The striking of special coins for the ceremony continues a tradition which began more than 300 years ago; and Maundy Money is eagerly sought by collectors throughout the world.
