£436 paid. Rare half sovereign from the reign of George 6th with a mintage of only 5,001. Only year George VI sovereigns were minted. These were never intended for circulation, although some were spent and many were melted down. The coin is proof on the obverse and is smooth rather than milled on the edge. Spink list these as “They are Proof stuck to Matt Finish FDC of the highest Rarity” . It was originally bought as Lot 619 dated 28/1/15 Warrington Auction Ltd. 551 Europa Boulevard, Warrington,United Kingdom [email protected]. Lot 613 dated 28/1/15. 01925 658833 . One NGC PF67 CAMEO slabbed on Ebay went for £1320 (3/5/15). I feel this coin actually matches the NGC Coin if not better! Spink Value £900
