🇺🇸 the Americana Collection of 20th Century Silver Types (1900-1999) ::: Mint State

描述: When completed, this set will consist of one example for each of the USA 20th century silver coins minted between 1900-1999 (mint state only ; no proofs or varieties). The grades in this collection range from MS65 to MS70 (Gem Brilliant Uncirculated). All of the coins in this collection are bright examples with NO toning and are PCGS graded with owner supplied photos.

Although this is a modern coin collection with each issue readily available, the challenge with collecting these is finding "all white Gem examples". As is, between the years of 1950 to 1979, the USA Mint was lack luster on the quality control to say the least. One of the biggest problems that the USA Mint had at that time was what us collectors call "milk spots". These were white spots found on a lot of the silver coins minted during this time period. Another negative factor with collecting these is what is called "bag marks". Bag marks on the coins were made and are due to the fact that most of the coins were placed in bags after minting to be shipped across the USA and abroad. In transit, these coins rubbed against each other and thus they have the "bag marks" we see today. As a rule, we only collect coins with no toning, no milk spots, with extremely nice surfaces. To date, we own some of the finest "blast white" examples of each type that we have included in this collection. Enjoy .......
