描述: The New Orleans Mint was established in 1838 and made coins from 1838 to 1861 and again from 1879 to 1909. with the secession of Louisiana from the union in early 1861 the mint came under the control of that body and eventually the Confederate States of America. Gold coins of 8 types and 6 denominations were made from 1838 to 1861. Coins from Louisiana saw hard circulation in commerce and are very well worn. Few survivors are left in mint state making just about any New Orleans coin a rarity in that condition.
