Well The First Year of the Washington Quarter and a DDO to Start off this Set. Coin was purchased thru Paul Battaglia at Rare Coin New Hampshire and this example is free of any hits on the face neck area. Featured in Coin Facts and Paul says could easily be a MS64...........
Saw this coin and thought do I really need to spend two grand on a MS 65? Nope. Purchased from arlingtoncoins2014 Ebay

Needed a nice 39 d and figured the Minor RPM is cool for less than Guide. Just Noticed this is actually RPM-001 in James Wiles Book. Maybe someday in the CPG that would be cool...

Did not go to Fun show in 2016 so next best thing is to buy a coin from the Auction during the show. I always looked for a example of this Variety and glad to add this one to my set......Decided to use the Quarterly special for reholder and there 30th Anniversary Label and a True-View. Update price guide Dropped like a Rock . It buried 6 out of the 8 buyers........rofl....
Ebay Purchase and in hand the toning and luster are both there. This one now has the 30th Anniversary Label and a True-View.

This coin was picked off Heritage The picture makes the coin look solid for the grade but a closeup reveals a HUGE hit on the Neck area. I wanted this coin because pops are at only 7. I am amazed the coin got into a 65 holder.........

This coin was submitted last Dec and it came back a MS 64 I was totally disappointed so this and other lessons I resubmitted it as a Crackout and paid again and on the second try it found its True Grade MS 66. This is the Wounded Eagle Example......
Some coins I buy and some I make. This one comes from Heritage at a Price I could not pass up.

I am so Jazzed to add this coin to My Set. To Me its one of the coolest DDR in the series. Bold doubling . This coin comes from the Phillip's Collection....This past week I picked 3 raw coins off ebay including the 1949 601 and the 1943 S 504 and hopefully a 1950 d/d what a great week...

With only 4 coins in MS this is one of the coins in this series that is Hard to find. Any coins with a pop of 10 or less are the ones that only come up when another set is retired This coin comes from the jwb1040 collection.

Bought from GC as a MS 64 sent back in upgraded to a 65 and still think there is room for a sticker someday

The Seller did Not Use the True View in his listing which surprised me as this Coin Has a Really Nice strike and Luster for a MS 64 Easy Decision......
This is the first coin I have seen come up for auction in the past 5 years. Another coin I was lucky to get....From the JWB1040 Collection

Bought from GC with a CAC sticker. In Hand This coin should upgrade to a + or a 67 Easy. Coin sold for 596 without a sticker back in 2018
Ebay Raw and did not have to pay for the variety yet I cannot add the coin to the one set......UPDATE OF course YOU HAVE to Pay coin is back with our host getting the 103 put on the label....I love sending in coins twice....
Ebay in May 2014 A great strike and High end 64 : } Just figured out this coin came from the Phillips collection sold by Manorcourtman
Bought this coin raw off Ebay. Thanks to Dale for teaching me about the pickup points over a year ago and finally got lucky.....Enjoy
First Variety Of the Year. I found a RAW Trumpet Tail at the end of last year and was so happy. It graded MS 64 and than I saw this coin already in a Holder Unattributed in MS 66 and it is the Trumpet Tail Variety. Joins 4 others for Top Pop . This coin can still be found Raw or in Unattributed holders. With a pop of over 30 MS coins this coin is not Rare.

This coin was bought raw off ebay IT is the Medium S Variety and if I cannot find a better example I will send this in for Variety. Well Dale always thought I would find a better one and I may have given alot more time but decided to send this one back in and get the Variety on the Label......9/17/2014
This is the second 66+ 503 that I have found, gave the first one to the phillips collection for all our trades. Will send off a Batch to CAC hopefully this year.
The 1943 S Has 6 varieties the MOST of all in this Series. This coin completes my task of finding all of these.....Paid MS 65 price guide but 1/3 the cost of the one for sale on GC. Plus in hand this coin looks MS.......
Another Top Pop found in the Wild. Last year I was at 50 percent and 1 year later over 60 percent...2017 was another good year finding these varieties raw or in unattributed holders.
This is My second Goiter with the first being the lowest Graded Example VG 08. There are only 10 examples graded anywhere. This coin is a RARE coin to find Raw or in a Holder. Last example was sold in 2010 and none since than. More than a few of the Top Sets are missing this coin. Yet pcgs price guide is 12 bucks for the vg 08 and only 28 points in the registry.. Makes no sense to me but this new MS 64 example is truly a Beautiful Piece only a TRUE collector could Love............ Its funny a MS 65 Sold for $3,965.63 on March 2nd. Heritage Auction. Now lets see how long it takes our host to update the price guide. I was told that Buy it now coins do not count towards the guide because they want 2 or more bidders to determine it as a REAL Auction. Well the Goiter sold with 5 bidders. So please update your Guide : }The same week on Ebay the brother to the Heritage in MS 64 sold for 2900 Buy it now.6/13/2014 Sold my VG 08 for price guide of the MS65 : } I truly feel the buyer got a Deal and hated to Let it Go. This MS 64 is heading back in for regrade as after seeing the 64 on ebay this coin kicks that coins ass.........
This coin was purchased from Witter Coin. To date a Rare coin and will watch the pops and see. I like this Coin.....

I was eating pie and ice cream waiting for a 44 d ddo 101 at GC and realized I missed it, but lucky a week later this coin shows up on ebay for cheaper than the coin at GC and looks better.

They did decide it is the Minor DDO on the Label? I still don't understand why some coins get Minor on the label and others do Not....
I bid on this coin back in 2015 and lost and coin sold for 451 off GC and than 3 years later the coin shows up and this time I won it for 293

This was bought off GC and to be honest I must have been High...It is a Nice coin but I paid 200 over guide. Must have been thinking upgrade?

This is the 3rd one of these I have found and the highest graded one.
Noticed this coin on ebay and was not positive. It got relisted and I was on Vacation so had what I thought was a friend buy the coin for me. Turns out even suffering a case of burnout I am still attracted to this series and the Varieties. Only 1 coin graded higher and a Population of only 5 and yet the guide shows 55 bucks, it cost 95 to Grade? I Keep reminding Myself its the fun of Finding these coins and I should NOT care what the Guide says.
I am so glad to have this example to study. From the Phillips Collection.
With a population of only 5 coins 4 in MS one AU 58 I was glad to get this coin no matter if the guide is so far off. Great looking coin in Hand and another study piece for me.

This is the second one I found Raw from Ebay. It's only a MS 64 but Glad that I finally figured out the pickup points.
From the number one Variety collector of Washington Quarters.

Found this s/s unattributed in a holder and sent back in for the Variety. Surprised the Variety guy got this one right since it seems he has no clue about the 1952 d ddo and pcgs needs to send him back to variety school.
Decided to upgrade my Au example . This coins come from the JWB1040 collection.

This coin makes the 4th example found in MS 67 This one came with the Green CAC Sticker and was found Unattributed in a holder.
Thanks to Doug at DM Rare Coins for a Great Deal. This is another Beautiful Coin in Hand and After 2 1/2 Years I have finally gone over 50 percent complete on The Variety Set of 185 coins. 12/7/2016

With only 3 coins Graded this coin is as Rare as the 1957 d Engraved Tail Feathers. I now have all The varieties for this Set. This Coin was found by BigDowgie who is the King of Varieties for the Nickels. I am thrilled that the coin has ended up in my set.
Always glad to find a coin that upgrades the one I had. This is a tough coin to find in the Wild Raw.......
Population of 7. 4 of those in MS including this one and I also found a AU 58. Both Raw I Love Varieties.........................
Found this coin the same week I found the MS 64 .......Raw Ebay............
This coin was in a Anacs slab Un attributed MS 64...............
Population of 14 with 11 of those MS Another one I found Raw.....
You really have to look up certificate numbers and than go up and down to see how many coins were made by this company. It took me another coin to learn that when they sell one they probally have 10 others but its all good. Knowledge is Power....
I believe this one came from GC. I like the coin and maybe another crackout someday.
I believe this one came from GC. I like the coin and maybe another crackout someday.
This coin was in a Anacs Slab graded as a MS 64 and thought the coin looked better. The whole idea of building this set is to find most of this raw or cheaply slabbed. There not number 1 coins but they are cheap varieties................It's always better to NOT be buried in your coins.........
This coin comes from the Boyettsix Collection and I used the profits from the 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof coin sale to pay for half of this coin. Great strike and no marks on the face and neck. and will send in for a CAC sticker.
Always in search of coins that talk to me and thanks to Copperhunter on the BST I will add this RPM 501 MS 65 To My Set...
This Coin has put me at 90 percent complete and comes from my friend Dr. Phillips Collection. Before that it was in the JWB 1040 Collection. I always thought I might be able to find this Variety raw and have looked for years when John offered me this coin. Once again he has given me a great deal on another coin I truly Love...….CAC sticker
Searching for the past year as I thought I would find one raw and finally did but our host says AU......I thought MS. But still glad to add another coin I made....
Another coin found in a Holder Unattributed. 2018 has been another great year. Buy the book and take your time...….
Found this coin on Ebay Unattributed already in a MS 66 PCGS Holder. Sent in for the Variety and a Nice Green 30th Anniversary Label.....A Great Way to finish off 2016 and one of my best Variety Years.....
This coin came from Stacks Auction Aug 24 2013 that ended at 3 pm west coast time and I think this was a Great Small Cherry pick and another nice Variety for the Set.
Jay Dunn Cherrypicked this coin from JT Stanton. I sent the coin in for him and was almost a new Top Pop. Liked the coin and Bought it for the set 49 to go.
This coin upgraded my AU-50 and looks like a nice coin for the grade. Top Pop for now. Used 1000.00 of the profits from the End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Gold Proof Coin sale so total cost for coin is 42.88
This is my third one found raw and still searching for that first MS.
Not sure about the XF 45 thinking more AU Is this the Large D? Maybe............
This is ANOTHER coin that the price guide is WAY OFF. How can a coin drop from 650 to 200 in 1 week when there were NO SALES? All of the 67's are in strong hands as are the 2 66+ and yet the guide drops that much? This was a real disappointment and would love to know where they came up with the price? 190 after grading fees............

Well another lesson learned Heritage auctions list the pops of each coin they sell, and in the past 1 month I have noticed there NOT RIGHT. This is another reason to check the pops before buying ANY coin from Heritage.......They are always showing the pops to be lower than what they actually are......what a scam........

This will be the 4th DDR MS 65 Top Pop. I have held in my hands 3 out of the 4.........Sorry to say pcgs this is the DDR NOT the D/D I do wish it was as the D/D is a 1000 coin compared to the DDR.....Wonder if I can charge them 18 bucks for noticing this...Finally fixed and picked up two vouchers.........
I sold my ms 62 a few years back thinking I would find another one raw. Never happened but now I have another good study piece. This is another tough Variety to find in the Wild. From the Dr. Phillips Collection.

This coin was bought in a 64 holder and looked to nice so I cracked it out and resubmitted. Now In the New Retro Holder......
Thought it would upgrade but nope and got the true view jan 2020
Bought from Utah Coin and maybe an Upgrade later. This coin has a Clean Portrait.
I try not to spend money upgrading coins but figured this is my Birth Year and the coin in hand is truly a Nicely Toned Example....... This coin came from Dr Bruder
This coin and I have a Long history as it was my First Holy Grail Coin. 2 1/2 years after it was discovered it is now in my set. This is the Discovery Coin...…..From the jwb 1040 Collection

For a Brief Time I now have two out of the 5 graded examples in hand. Love the New MS 64 with CAC sticker that comes from the Dr Phillips Collection who once again has done me a favor holding the coin for me this past year. Upgrades my AU-55 The last 2 ms 65 coins that have been graded are only a Partial engraving on the tail feathers and been told there just late die states.
This is Die Number 2 Reverse of the Misplaced D I have been told there are several different reverse dies.............
I discovered the 2nd one of these to be found and it was Stolen along with the 1953 ETF Proof Quarter going to pcgs. Don't know if there will ever be a 66 ....There are 2 Different Reverse Dies and I now own both.........
I have seen many of these in Hand and Have Been amazed that not one graded a MS 65 yet, The die Polish lines on the Reverse are so Pronounced around the D. This Coin in MS65 Will Be Rare...........
Another coin I think is Under graded and will go back in someday. I also noticed this coin does not have the Obverse markings like all the others.

This and the 1948 S/S complete all My Varieties and the first coins purchased in 2020 on the first Day. Woohoo
This coin was found off Ebay for 28 bucks already in a Anacs Blue Holder MS 64 Holder WITH The Variety. Cracked it Out and it is Now Tied for the Top Pop.....
For the past 3 years I have searched for the proof version of this coin and have spent over 500 bucks in that quest, and this AU speciman shows up and now I truly believe there is NO PROOF version. This is only the second coin to be found and graded and there is not even a slot yet for this in the Registry Sets......WOOHOO Slot Created on 12/30 /2013 after My Request and added to another set so far. This is a Nice DDO and think it will be one sought after coin.
As soon as I saw the first one graded I got lucky buying a Roll from Ebay that had 6 examples...My best Roll score to date....
Another coin in hand looks better than a MS 64 and may go back in...….

Buy Them Raw and Make them Yourself.....But with a 24 Variety Fee this coin is a WASH..............Still a true collector will make most of his own and its more fun.

Picked this up from GC and my bet it came from L/C coins as they seem to find rolls of these DDO and DDR and than have them all graded which kills the pops but still a good price considering price guide.

This coin was in the set that I bought back in 2012 at the Springfield Il This set contained the 2nd example of the Quarter with ETF and is the one that was stolen on its way to our host.Read about the Engraved Coat Lapel somewhere and checked the 2 sets i have and this is the one with ECL......
This is the third Engraved Coin that came out of the same set bought in Springfield Il in 2012.....

This is the coin that really got my passion going for the Proof Variety Registry Set.Funny that 2 years later and still a work in progress. I own 2 of these 67 cameo's and 1 66+ and a few other superbirds including the ETF.
Found on L&C Coins website Unattributed and made a great deal to upgrade my 65. Thanks Pete
Made me a trade that would let this Super Super Bird come to join my Set. I found the second graded example and have held a few of these and must admit this 67 should be in a 68 holder. The coin is just Beautiful...Thanks to another member who knows the coin is now in Strong Hands and gets me one step closer to buiding the Finest set I could afford.............
This coin was purchased at the Heritage Auction June 8th Long Beach 2013 and Comes from the MJK Collection and was in a Proof 66 Cameo Holder. When I looked at this coin in hand I knew Instantly it would UPGRADE to a 67 Cameo and join the other 6 for a Top Pop Position. Grades came back on 9/9/2013 and I wass Right. I lost the OLD certificate number which shows the providence of the coin, but I am Very Happy to See it in the Right Holder for the Coin.

This is the same coin I bought from Mike and decided to try the dip and resubmit and it popped up one grade higher.........
This coin makes the fourth one of these ETF that I have had in my hands. The first Proof 64 was the second coin to be found and a top pop at the time. Sold off and search for 4 months before finding example 2 which was truly a Proof 66 or better and was stolen at the PO in Anaheim. Example 3 came from Mike valente151 from the florida Fun Show 2013 in a Proof set. That coin came back a Proof 65, which honestly I thought was a 66. Newest example picked off ebay at the right time in a NGC holder Proof 68. Cracked it out and submitted and came back the Number 1 Coin Proof 67. If you search hard enough some times you get rewarded.....Enjoy
This coin was first purchased in a Anacs proof 67 crossed over to a pcgs 66 (I knew the coin was a 67) resubmitted secure plus came back a Proof 67. Truly a beautiful coin.
I own the 67 cameo and this 68 and a 67 and a 66 and a 65 and finally a Proof 55. I have found more of these than anyone else.
I have found more of these than any other Variety since I first started. I made this 67 cameo and a Proof 68 and a 67 and a 66 and a 65 and even one Proof 55? Yep it was a dog....This is a Very Interesting Die Gouge.......Also the ONLY DCAM I found in another members Set and Tried to Lure it away with Cash and Coins but the Owner LOVES the Coin and will never be Buried in it. So I Understand a True Collector.............
This coin was won in a battle on teletrade,it is the first Cameo DDO for the 1959 and fits perfectly with my collection........
Been searching for this Top Pop One of four and a Nice Upgrade to my Proof 66. What a great series to put together..........

2 years ago this coin was the First DDR made at pcgs. The auction was thru teletrade and at the time money was tight. I was the underbidder. This one coin cost me first in the Registry but I always thought I would find one Raw. Fast forward 2 years and I noticed the buyer upgraded this coin so sent an email asking if I could buy the coin. This coin leaves my set 1 coin short of being done, and I now believe there is no 1962 Proof DDO even tho I have spent the last 3 years trying to track down the only 1 graded at pcgs, and its hiding in someone's SDB......Fun Set.....

This coin was bought from JT Stanton and as far as I know is the first one graded. Just have to hope they include this coin in the next CPG. Doubled Die 2-O-II
This coin was won in a Battle off Ebay. After finding the Washington Goiter I heard of this one.
This coin was purchased at the Chicago show in 2012 and I came across Fred Weinberg Table, I saw this Quarter and after holding it in hand I knew I had to have it. Fred Gave me a Great deal and Just love the coin is in the Series I like the Most............Enjoy Update JT Stanton found the second known example which I bought, and its off next week for Grading....How cool after 55 years these 2 coins are back together....
After 55 years this coin is now reunited with a coin that was made from the exact Same Die and I would guess within 1 or 2 coins of the First One that I bought from Fred Weinberg in 2013. I than found this coin listed for sale from JT Stanton. Incredible to have both coins together......
