Scientist and inventor George Washington Carver (1864-1943), and educator Booker T. Washington (1856-1915) were both important voices in the African American community during their lifetimes, and these coins were intended to bind them together in a Pro-American campaign aimed at those communities during the post-World War II period in the U.S. This is my collection of this commemorative series.
