Tough date to fill. 1884 S XF40 The incredible MS68 coin surfaced at a Mid-West coin show in the 1980's. Dealer Chuck Walanka asked me if I wanted to see two special coins and then he proceeded to show me the 1884-S later graded by PCGS MS68 and the 1896-S later graded by PCGS MS69!!!!! Needless to say, I was virtually speechless. I bought the coins for what was a big price at the time...I think I paid him $40,000 for the pair. I sold both coins to collector George Bodway. Later, Jack Lee bought the Bodway collection intact, combining the two best Morgan dollar collections of the time into one. Jack continued to upgrade his set, building the greatest Morgan dollar set of all-time.

1890 S MS63 CAC in an old PCGS rattler. I made the mistake thinking this was a MS64 instead it was a MS63. I paid MS64 money. Tried to return without success. Ebay dealer told me the Rattler holder makes this coin MS64 money....lmbo...I learned a valuable lesson to pay closer attention to coins I bid on in the future. Taxes and Shipping added another $30 to the price I paid.

DESCRIPTION The obverse design (heads) depicts Continental and modern soldiers “at the ready” with the weapons of their respective eras. They represent the continuity of the U.S. Army since its beginnings and its continuing mission to defend our country. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES ARMY,” and “SINCE 1775.” The reverse design (tails) juxtaposes the seven core values of the Army against the U.S. Army flag, with both the flag and its streamers lifted by a breeze. The streamers from several major battles have visible text, including APPOMATTOX 1865, LEXINGTON 1775, ABEYANCE 2014 - 2015, TET COUNTEROFFENSIVE 1968, and LUZON 1944 - 1945. Inscriptions are the Army’s core values—“LOYALTY,” “DUTY,” “RESPECT,” “SELFLESS SERVICE,” “HONOR,” “INTEGRITY,” and “PERSONAL COURAGE.”

Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars are coveted by collectors for their historical, artistic, and symbolic representation of a young nation blossoming into a world power. The Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars returned to the U.S. Mint in 2021, the centennial marker of the last striking of the Morgan Silver Dollar and the first of the Peace Silver Dollar. The 2023 issue marks the first time either a Morgan or Peace Dollar has ever featured a reverse proof finish which contrasts a brilliant, reflective subject against a frosted background.
