关于此套币: This set originated from the Third French Republic Type Set composite on the PCGS registry. While beginning to build out that set, I acquired an MS-64 1872-A Franc with vibrant colors under very original surfaces. It quickly became my favorite coin and inspired me to abandon the type set and work on building out this set instead.

Along with Dupré’s Hercules and Roty’s Sower, E.A. Oudiné’s Cérès is one of the iconic recurring designs on coinage of the French Republics. Originally created in the late 1840s for the Second Republic, this depiction of Cérès was designed to avoid references to previous French regimes. The design combines the stately elegance of the Greco-Roman world with an inviting autumnal warmth, owing to the goddess’s crown of wheat, flowers, olives, and oak.

For me, this set provides a nice balance. There are only nine coins in the set, but high-quality examples are scarce enough to preserve the joy of the hunt. I hope you enjoy looking at my set as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
