The Eliasberg Basic Set of $3 gold pieces is of course complete in that he did own one of every date and mint mark. As was the custom at the time, most of his Philadelphia issues are proofs. Nonetheless, we’ve constructed an “assumed grade” set so other collectors can compare their sets to the Eliasberg collection. Highlights of the Eliasberg set include the rare 1854-D in EF45 and probably the finest known 1860-S, an MS64. And, Louis Eliasberg did own the unique 1870-S, one of the most important of all United States gold rarities.
