PCGS grade. Purchased by Louis Eliasberg when he acquired the John Clapp collection in 1942. Acquired by John Clapp's father, J.M. Clapp, directly from the San Francisco Mint in 1902. Purchased at the Bowers & Ruddy Oct '82 Eliasberg sale by Joel Gabrelow for $12,100. Note that Eliasberg also had a 1900-S $5 which PCGS subsequently graded MS69. Lot #605. Pedigreed 1/28/11.
