Nice looking coin if a bit softer looking strike on the obverse than some of the others in my collection but also cleaner than many of them. Definitely don't mind having an over date in this date position!

Solid coin for the grade with nice clean unmolested surfaces on both sides. Didn't realize that it was trueview certified by PCGS. Nice original toning with some original luster. Incredible for a coin that is getting ready to turn 200 years old.

Bust half dollars are getting tough to find in circulated grades that actually look good. Finding them in EF40 seems to me as even tougher. Lots of uncirculated coins for astronomical prices and even many circulated coins now commanding prices higher than book values. Finding an AU50 coin for under $500 takes a bit of searching and often times it is unattractive. This makes a nice addition to my collection at a grade that is above my expectations!
Coin is well strike with the stars on the obverse extremely well defined and showing only slight wear on the top of her cap. Cheek on the obverse bust is wonderfully clean with almost no obvious wear or tick marks. Nice rim toning on the obverse around the edge stars and reverse on the lower half of the coin.

Nice original coin with good detail on the obverse cap and hair. Reverse eagle wing details especially at the top of the wing appear to me to be better for the grade than the typical XF40 coin. Fields on the reverse are also in great condition and the coin doesn't exhibit the darker steel gray toning that is so prevalent on early draper bust half dollars.

Better looking coin in my opinion. CAC certification would seem to reinforces my opinion. Solid strike and lighter wear on both front and rear devices.

Second coin I purchased in this series. Obverse has typical for the grade wear in the hair details and the stars also are showing wear. Some weak strike appearance on the obverse denticles from 9 to 12 o'clock and 3 to 4 o'clock as well. Somewhat weak edge strike on the reverse but still has decent wing feather details.

Have managed to actually get most of the late dates in this series without a huge amount of trouble. Earlier dates are out there but much tougher to locate in XF40 grades. Many of the overdates are prohibitively expensive in XF40. I am very happy that I have been able to add coins in higher grades than XF40 in the later years of the series.
Won this at auction at David Lawrence Coins and am very happy to add it to my collection! Great looking piece for an excellent price. Wasn't expecting o get a nice AU graded coin for not much more than an EF price. The grade will definitely raise my collection overall rating while giving me a new piece to analyze in the days ahead.
