Found this one to upgrade my VF-30 graded piece. This date/mint seems to be a bit easier to find than the 1841-O or 1842-O, but finding any of the early dates in this series in decent, original condition will take time.

This was a coin I saw listed on the BST forum, and any nice 1841 gets my attention. This is a nice upgrade from my XF-40 coin and the PL surfaces don't hurt either. A very scarce date that hardly every shows up anywhere.

Attractive toning on this very scarce date, and fairly well struck. Finding nice examples of this date/mint will take some time.

Saw this coin in a Heritage auction and figured it would be a nice upgrade to my other 1842. The subtle, original toning is very attractive. The 1842 is easier to find than the 1841, but not seen as often as the 1843 or 1844.

Don't believe the guides that say this is a 'common' date, it's anything but unless you like bad examples. Sure this one has a few speckles on the reverse but it's a nice coin in hand, and it has some luster.

I jumped on this one in a Teletrade auction because of the look and the grade assigned to it. Originally AU-53 in an old NGC holder, I crossed it over for the registry and turned it into an AU-58.

Got this piece at a FUN show, like this kind of look in VF graded pieces. Nowhere near as tough as the 1842-O to locate.

The cool, ice blue toning attracted me to this piece. The 1844 is considered a common date, but it's great when it has an uncommonly good look!

Another nice, original looking coin for this set. VF-35 is a very ideal grade too. This date can be found with some ease, probably the equivalent of the 1843-O.

Bought in an online auction from Alaska Rare Coins - with no images. Their description was spot on and they have a great shop so I made a bid, which turned out to be a good thing. This is not an easy date to locate in decent original condition, no doubt the low mintage is a factor.

This was another tough date/mint for me to locate. There are drapery/no drapery varieties, but I took the first nice one (with drapery here) that came along. The strike is a bit weak in the front, but the original look of this coin outweighs that issue.

Put in what I thought was a low bid on this coin and ended up getting it after the auction was over. The 1846 is a common date, but the Tall Date variety is quite a bit scarcer. This crusty, attractive original coin was a welcome addition to my set.

Saw this coin on the CRO website one day and knew that I had to have it. The subtle rainbow toning gives this coin huge eye appeal of a higher grade than VF-35. This date is usually not hard to find, except for the tall date variety.

This nice, original coin came from an Ebay auction. Starting with 1847 and stretching through 1852, I noticed Seated halves from that date range didn't show up as often as the previous few years. It took quite awhile to find this "common" date in acceptable condition.

This is another date that just isn't easy to find, due to the low mintage. This coin has a look I like, plus a green CAC sticker doesn't hurt either.

To me, the 1849 Philly and New Orleans issues were about the same difficulty to find nice. Neither shows up all that often. This coin is a nice looking original XF-45.

All I could say is "wow" when I saw this coin on a dealer's website. The 1850 Philly is one of the toughest dates in the series, these just don't show up at all, at shows or on the web. Nice, subtle toning graces both sides of this coin; it's very attractive in hand.

I already had a nice 1850-O in XF-40, but this coin did call out to me. The central details are very strongly struck, giving the coin an almost 3-D appearance, especially on the eagle. The 1850-O is much easier to find than its Philly cousin, but it still is a date that isn't seen all that often.

The last of the very tough early 1850's pieces in this series. I've seen very few coins of this date, and most of them are not very attractive. Even this piece is only middling in eye appeal, but the details are good for a New Orleans piece.

Love this transitional design, especially the rays on the reverse. This date and type isn't all that hard to find, so it pays to be picky. I love the nice original look on this coin, along with the subtle color.
