2001-P $1 Buffalo PR69DCAM PCGS #99793

The 2001 Silver Buffalo Commemorative Dollar coins now exist thanks to Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Starting in 1995 he had proposed he reintroduction of the Buffalo design on a U.S. coin. His original proposal was to produce a five-cent coin made of silver depicting the historical buffalo design. After five tries and five years later, Campbell's proposal was finally accepted. However, Mint officials concluded that the buffalo design was more appropriate on a commemorative coin. PCGS PR69DCAM example. Mintage 272,869.
