1875-CC 10C Mintmark Above Bow MS66+ PCGS #4673

CAC Approved- Ex Heritage Auction #1344: The reverse exhibits prominent peripheral die cracks. A pleasing Carson City type coin. Fire-red and lavender toning endows the borders, while the centers remain brilliant. Lustrous and well preserved with incompleteness of strike limited to the bow west of the knot. The obverse margin has an orange-peel texture near Liberty's feet, as struck from a long-in-use die. For all Mintmark Above Bow varieties, Population: 12 in 66 (1 in 66+), 3 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 1 finer (2/22).

1892-CC $5 MS63+ PCGS #8380

High Condition Census 1892-CC Half Eagle 1892-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 1-A, the only known dies. Die State II. MS-63+ (PCGS). CAC. A impressive Choice example that has few rivals among extant 1892-CC half eagles. Bathed in a blend of vivid rose-orange color and appealing mint luster, the surfaces are very smooth and visually appealing. A bold to sharp strike adds to this coin's desirability. The penultimate Carson City Mint half eagle, the 1892-CC is one of the more readily obtainable issues in this popular mintmarked gold series. It is much scarcer than the 1891-CC, however, especially in Mint State. This attractive PCGS MS-63+ ranks high in the Condition Census and is sure to appeal to advanced Carson City Mint enthusiasts. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection-Hendricks Set. PCGS Population: 3; with a single MS-64 finer. CAC Population: 8; 0.

1890-CC $10 MS63 PCGS #8718

CAC- Fairmont (Hendricks Set): Stacks Bowers April 2022 “Gorgeous rose-gold surfaces are fully lustrous with a billowy, frosty texture. The striking detail is full throughout, and both sides are exceptionally well preserved and of solidly Choice Mint State in quality.”

1891-CC $10 MS63 PCGS #8720

CAC. As one of the finer certified examples of the perennially popular 1891-CC ten-dollar gold issue, this condition rarity PCGS/CAC MS-63 will hold tremendous appeal for advanced CC-Mint gold enthusiasts and mintmarked type collectors. Beautiful satin to softly frosted surfaces also bathed in original color of vivid honey-rose. Razor sharp striking detail and an uncommonly smooth appearance enhance this coin's desirability. 103,732 eagles were struck in the penultimate year of the Carson City Mint's coining operations and, unlike for many issues in this mintmarked gold series, thousands were exported to Europe. Repatriations beginning in the second half of the 20th century have swelled the Mint State population to upward of 2,300 coins (per Rusty Goe, 2020). Most of these grade no finer than MS-62, at which levels the 1891-CC is a mainstay of Mint State gold type sets and CC-Mint collections. Scarce in MS-63, higher grade pieces are formidable condition rarities. With coveted CAC approval, this coin is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into an advanced cabinet. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection-Hendricks Set.

1876-CC $20 MS62 PCGS #8977

CAC- Ex. Bender, Fairmont (Hendrick’s)- Ex: Fairmont-Bender. A small die chip behind Liberty's eye and the right edge of the second C in the mintmark aligned with the left edge of T below confirm the die variety. The 1876-CC double eagle enjoys a relatively substantial mintage for a Carson City twenty dollar issue, with 138,441 pieces struck. Accessibility is commensurate with the production total but only in lower grades. The finest examples seen by PCGS are no higher than MS62, although 62 submissions are reported at that level. Rusty Goe speculates that the actual surviving population in that grade is about 20 to 45 pieces. Swathes of natural copper-red color grace luminous yellow-gold surfaces. Uninhibited mint luster swirls over each well-preserved side with few major marks present. Strongly struck for the type with terrific eye appeal and quality for the grade, which CAC has recognized. Population: 62 in 62, 0 finer. CAC: 7 in 62, 0 finer (7/22).
