TYPE SET COIN Lot 1141 1926-D. PCGS graded MS-64. A pleasing white example with the head more than 50% full. In an OGH. In 1925 the date on the Standing Liberty quarters was recessed into the step, creating a sub-type. This allowed the coin's rim to protect the numbers better from wear. Evidently this modification did improve the situation, since pre-1925 dates fetch prices many times higher than post-1925 dates, even given roughly equal mintage numbers in the same state of preservation (PCGS # 5756) . Estimated Value $240 - 250. Realized $276
