The 1787 ET LIR variety was caused when the die engraver used an R instead of a B punch at the end of ET LIB. Several die varieties comprise this type, adding up to a relatively hefty population as far as Connecticut Coppers go. Well-circulated examples are fairly common, but nice, problem-free examples are truly scarce. The best we've seen is the AU58 pictured above. Though it is from a late state of the dies, the color is gorgeous brown and the surfaces are glossy and smooth.
