The FUCIO variety is one of the most popular of all the Fugio Cent varieties. This is one of the Club Rays (concave ends) type, but because it is such an obvious, major variety, it appeals to both type and die variety collectors. In turn, this places tremendous upward pressure on the pricing -- only the AMERICAN CONGRESS and the Club Rays, Concave Ends, STATES UNITED reverse are more rare and valuable. Grades range from heavily circulated to Extremely Fine. A single Mint State example is known.
This was the only use of the obverse die. No markers separate MIND and YOUR. The club-like rays have concave ends (Breen calls these "Musket Butt Rays"). Be sure to compare this with Newman 23-ZZ, the only other variety with a FUCIO obverse.
This was the only use of the reverse die. UNITED appears on the left side of the label; STATES appears on the right. The W and E of WE are separated and the E leans slightly toward the left. Most of the UNITED/STATES reverse dies look very much alike, so be sure to compare to confirm the reverse.
