The rays of the sun on Fugio "Cents" are found in three distinct versions: pointed, club-shaped with concave ends, or club-shaped with rounded ends.  The Rounded Ends type is fairly scarce and, of course, a necessary addition for anyone collecting major Fugio design changes.  Two die varieties (Newman 3-D and Newman 4-E) comprise the entire Rounded Ends type, thus the price is elevated above normal levels because of the double demand from both type and variety collectors.

The Rounded Ends type is very rare above XF40.  Often, this type is found on defective planchets (for example, clips, lamination peels, voids, and cracks), though it is possible to find these on relatively problem-free flans.  Color is important, but good luck finding one with the ideal combination of milk-chocolate-brown color and glossy surfaces.
