Sheldon 11b is an edge variant of the popular 1793 Wreath Cents design. On this sub-variety, the edge is lettered ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR with two leaves after DOLLAR (as opposed to the single leaves on Sheldon 11c). S-11b is considered a Rarity 4 (or Very Scarce) variety, by high-grade examples are quite rare. The finest example is the Ellsworth-Sheldon-Naftzger-Reynolds coin, graded MS62BN by PCGS in 2015. This remarkable coin is at least ten points finer than any other example yet seen.
Breen noted that this variety often comes with planchet laminations. Because these defects were mint-made, they should not affect the value unless the defects are large, obvious, or numerous. Perfect, brown planchets are the ideal, but they are encountered rarely.
