The Heads of '93 are considered the aristocrats of the many 1794 varieties. There are four Heads of '93: S-17, 18, 19 and 20. All are scarce, and only S-18b is known in high grade.

In the Masters sale by RARCOA in 1971, a choice "S-18b" was offered. All of the well-known 1794 collectors, including John Adams, Del Bland, and Denis Loring, were outbid by an unknown named Bob Schuman. Shortly after the sale, Bob displayed his prize: the finest known S-19b. All the "pros" had missed it!
