1796 C2 Liberty Cap half cent, With Pole, R4. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as AG3, and CAC-certified as CHOICE for the assigned grade. Original medium chocolate brown color and mostly smooth surfaces. The obverse is fully G5 with everything visible including a full bold date. The reverse is weaker at AG3, and overall my EAC grade would be AG3+ but VERY close to G4. Very few 1796 half cents are nice enough for PCGS holders, and even fewer could ever dream of a CAC sticker - this one stands alone and I can't imagine a nicer example for the grade and variety.
