The 1803 Dime is like the 1800, 1801, and 1802 Dimes in terms of the total number of survivors, but this date is nearly impossible to find in Mint State.  In fact, the PCGS Condition Census dips all the way down to AU53 at the low end and shows only one Uncirculated example, that being the remarkable PCGS MS64 Parmelee-Atwater-Bareford-Lovejoy-Bolen-Price example (enough great names in there?) that sold in 2008 for a record-stomping $322,000.

It took five different die combinations to complete the mintage of 33,040, resulting in some individual varieties that are quite rare and desirable.
