1805 C2 Draped Bust half cent, Small 5 With Stems, R5. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as VG Detail, Repaired. This coin was lot #41 in the 2004 EAC auction on 04/17/04, where Bob Grellman described it as: "1805 C-2 R5 G5. Small 5 with Stems. A couple points sharper but the planchet was carefully straightened to eliminate a minor bend. The hair ribbons are clearly flattened and the fields are slightly wavy, but the planchet is smooth and free of any hint of corrosion. The only notable mark is a light hairline scratch left right of the second S in STATES. The date is bold and legends strong except for HALF CENT, which is visible but faint. Overall a decent example of this very rare variety. The reverse is rotated 10 degrees CCW." Still a very suitable and attractive example for this rare variety, with nice color and eye appeal.
