1805 C4 Draped Bust half cent, Large 5 With Stems, R2. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as MS62BN, and CAC-certified as CHOICE for the assigned grade! Original with medium-dark brown color and even luster on both sides. A strong glass reveals some very minor contact marks at the temple that would net this coin to EAC AU55. This is a somewhat tougher variety to locate at this level of preservation, with the Noyes census in Penny Prices 2017 listing an MS60 as CC1, AU55 as CC2, and several AU50's after that. This coin is certainly not CC1 but it should crack into the top six coins. Additionally, it looks like this example would also qualify as one of the top six coins at PCGS.
