The Overton 101 1805/4 Half Dollar features one of two different overdate obverses known from this year. Both obverses show a clear overdate, so neither is favored over the other, except when paired with a reverse in a more scarce die combination. In this case, the 1805/4 Overton 101 is listed as a Rarity 3 (201 to 500 known). Until recently, the finest known example was the NGC MS65 Eliasberg coin. However, a challenger arose in the form of the Gem example from the Eric P. Newman collection, which sold in November 2013 for a record $152,750. It appears that any 1805 O-101 Half Dollar above Extremely Fine is a Condition Census candidate.
