1808/7 C2 Draped Bust half cent, Overdate, R3. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as VG10, and this is a well-circulated example with original medium brown color and good eye appeal. A glass reveals a couple fine hairlines and contact marks on both sides, nothing out of line for the grade. The color appears completely original and the eye appeal is very positive thanks to glossy surfaces and bold details. Easily VG10 and in fact my consignor considered this as F15. I will go with F12 net VG8+ to be conservative. The overdate feature is very bold, and this is an early die state example M1.0 with no crack at tops of TY. Purchased in 2005 but no records of the seller; Furnace Run Collection.
