1809 C4 Classic Head half cent, Circle Inside Zero In Date, R2. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as AU53, and it has gorgeous glossy medium peanut butter than brown color with great eye appeal. No real defects to speak of but a "mushy" strike from M2.0 with weaker denticles; repunching fades on stars 6 and 10; leaf under second A in AMERICA is strong; reverse rotated 22deg CW to K1. The color is so attractive, and it's really hard to find any signs of contact: the most visible, and it is tiny, is a little nick beneath the F in HALF on the reverse. The Circle Inside Zero feature is plainly visible, and this is a great example for this Redbook variety. Purchased on Ebay in 2017; Furnace Run collection.
