1809 C6 Classic Head half cent, Normal Date, R1. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as MS61BN, and it is a lustrous, original medium-dark brown with good eye appeal. The strike is a little soft in areas including some of the centers on the lower stars, and I do note an as-made planchet flaw on the obverse to the right of stars 10-11 which most likely resulted in the MS61 grade instead of a point or two higher. The reverse is mark-free and nearly flawless. M2.0 with rim break in denticles above stars 9-10; star 9 repunched; light clash marks reverse. Purchased on Ebay in 2011 for $1275; Furnace Run collection.
