1810 C1 Classic Head half cent, the only variety, R1. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as MS62BN, and CAC-certified as CHOICE for the assigned grade. Lustrous medium brown with traces of lighter mint red peaking through on both sides. Hard to tell why this coin is not MS63BN, because the only real mark I see is a VERY light nick above the A in HALF on the reverse. Otherwise, this one appears to easily be MS63BN or higher, and that is certainly the reason for the CAC sticker. Only one die state for these, although this does appear to be a later strike with flat star centers, a strong die crack through stars 4-7, and minor weakness on the right side of both obverse and reverse. Lighter color and much more lustrous in person. Really a nice example for the grade, certainly EAC MS60+. Ex-Kevin Vinton 2018; Furnace Run Collection.
