1825 C2 Classic Head half cent, R1. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as MS62BN, and it was not sent to CAC due to time constraints. This coin has made two appearances at Heritage and another at Stacks, and the Stacks auction 03/05/19 lot 348 described the coin as such: "A wonderfully original example splashed with mottled antique copper, autumn-brown and pale gold patina. Minot spot at the left obverse border, but otherwise we note an uncommonly smooth satin texture for the assigned grade. Pleasing and desirable Mint State quality for the Classic Head half cent type. Manley Die State 1.0." Close examination clearly reveals that this is M2.0 and not M1.0, with fine rust in front of the portrait and on the reverse left of H and C.
