1826 C2 Classic Head half cent, 6 over horizontal 6, R3+. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as AU55, and CAC-certified as CHOICE for the assigned grade! Dark chocolate brown with glossy surfaces that show a hint of dark orange color around the left stars. A glass shows a pair of tiny digs on the bust plus an interruption in the patina at star 12, but that is being pretty darn picky. The reverse is nearly mark-free. Although not recognized as a variety, this C2 does show clearly the 6 in the date being struck over a horizontal 6, pretty cool!
