1826 C1 Classic Head half cent, R1. This is the front-line example for the Furnace Run PCGS Registry Set of US half cents from 1793 to 1857 by Cohen Variety. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as MS63BN, and it is a gorgeous peanut butter tan brown example with a couple splashes of darker maroon toning on each side. I will call this the "peanut butter and jelly" coin! A strong glass reveals no marks on either side, but it does show the die file lines at the top of the hair and right of the date to be incredibly bold. M3.0 with die file lines above head and right of 6; crack rim to star 2 reach toward star 3. Purchased from Greg Hannigan in 2011; Furnace Run collection.
