Newcomb 11 is the most common of the 1827 Large Cent varieties. John Wright, author of The Cent Book 1816-1839, wrote in 1992, "Number 11 accounts for nearly half of all 1827 cents and never commands a premium."
The obverse of this variety was used on Newcomb 10 and 11; the reverse was only used on Newcomb 11. The right foot of the T in CENT is strongly doubled, apparently diagnostic for the variety.
Mint State examples are mostly Brown in color; Red-Brown examples are very rare; and Red examples may be non-existent.
The finest 1827 N-11 certified by PCGS is a single MS66BN example.
