The 1829 Newcomb 3 Large Cent is not a particularly scarce or rare variety, but it is very hard to find in high grade.  In particular, there is only one example known in Mint State and the nearest competitor is at least ten points behind.  Even the sole Mint State example (the PCGS MS64BN illustrated above) is flatly struck on most of the high points, including ALL of the stars and many of the leaves on the wreath.  Noyes described this variety as "bluntly struck" and it is doubtful if any fully struck examples exist.  No Red-Brown or Red 1829 N-3's are known.
