The 1847/6 Overdate variety is the scarcest variety in the Seated Half Dollar series. There are early and late die state examples. The early die state examples are much scarcer, more popular an much more valuable. On the early die state examples, the base of the 6 digit can be seen beneath the 4 digit.The obverse of this varitey also has doubling in the word "Liberty" and above the top and right of the shiled outline.. The doubling is fairly strong and clearly evident.
