Judd 119 was an attempt in 1850 to reduce the size of the copper Large Cent down to a more manageable size.  The idea was to mix an alloy of 1 part silver and 9 parts copper, which would automatically reduce the weight of the coin, but the weight of the coin became so low that the resulting coin would have to be very small or very thin.  To solve this problem, a hole was punched out of the center of the coin, creating a larger coin of the proper thickness.

The obverse die (the USA side) is usually seen with extensive cracks through the legends.  Supposedly, perfect dies exist for Judd-121, thus one would expect them for J-119 since they are both struck from the same dies and J-119 was the intended prototype.  If they exist, perfect die J-119's are very rare and they are the true Originals.  The cracked die J-119s may be restrikes, as they are quite plentiful.
