The 1852 Quarter Dollar is a semi-scarce coin due to a low mintage of under 200,000 examples.  The silver meltings that occured in 1853 and subsequent years added to the scarcity of this piece.  Nonetheless, a small supply of Mint State examples exists, mostly in the MS63 and MS64 grades.  MS65 and better examples are truly rare.  The finest example is the NGC MS68* from the Eric Newman Collection, which sold in late 2013 for an astounding $107,750.
