Only three examples are known of the BG-422A 1954-D Half Dollar. One example is in the collection of the American Numismatic Society. The Jay Roe - Jack Totheroh example (the only Uncirculated example of the three) sold in 2013 for $21,150. The third example is in a private collection. Since 1983, this variety has appeared at auction only three times (and all three citations are for the same coin), indicating the difficulty in even having an opportunity to own an example.
