The 1858 Judd-204 Pattern Cent is very common as far as pattern coins go, with a population of over one hundred examples (and possible as many as 150-200). The obverse features a somewhat scrawny eagle flying left; the reverse shows an ornate shield with a wreath below.
Judd-204s were included as part of a 12-piece set of Pattern Cents sold by the Mint to collectors, or they were sold or traded individually for coins needed for the national collection. The obverse of Judd-204 was also paired with different reverses on J-202, J-203, and J-206.
Most of the examples certified by PCGS fall into the PR63 and PR64 levels; the best example tops out at PR66. Cameo and Deep Cameo examples are extremely rare and represent just a tiny fraction of the known population.
