With a mintage of over 1.3 million pieces, the 1859 Quarter Dollar is easy to find in most grades. Even Mint State examples are affordable, if not slightly scarce. The strike quality for this date is excellent and most examples show full details, denticles and radial lines. The finest specimens are superb, topping out at MS67. The most "common" Mint State grade is MS64, followed by MS63 and MS65. All in all, this date is excellent for type purposes because of its availability and affordability.
