Only 13,000 examples of this date were struck making the 1860-S gold dollar scarce and undervalued in all grades. This lustrous piece has splashes of golden color atop the surfaces, is well struck and appealing for the grade.

Despite the lower mintage, this date is not nearly as scarce as the 1859-S, particularly in the higher grades. Choice uncirculated examples, although scarce, are available from time to time and I have seen a fair number that would qualify as gems.PCGS #
