1864 No L Snow-11 MS-65RB PCGS- CAC-75% RED. Fully struck with very few marks. This variety shows concentric lathe lines across the face. Although there is a spot on the reverse, it is still a very attractive coin. It is in an old green-label holder from over 15 years ago. S11 1864 No L, Lathe lines. Obv. 21: (C) Concentric circular die lines cover most of the portrait with the focus at the center of the die. Die stage A: Die striations fron 11:30 to 5:30. Dies stage B: The lathe lines are less pronounced. Rev. AT: Olive leaf and shield points well away from the denticles. This could have been an old die which was reengraved for some reason. It may have been expedient to reengrave the design directly into this working die to bring out the design. Any lines cut into the die would be very difficult to smooth out, so they were left in.
