On J-1022, there's been the question of whether they are MS, Proof, or both.

The well-struck J-1022's (the so-called Proof versions) all appear to have been struck from the same obverse die used to strike the regular Proofs (date high and to the right of the point of the shield).
The Simpson coin is one such example:

The weakly struck J-1022's (the so-called MS versions) appear to have been struck from dies used on the Mint State silver versions (date lower; 1 below the point of the shield).

Thus, it seems that Judd 1022 comes in both Mint State and Proof versions, which is a rare occurrence in the world of pattern coins.
