Obverse depicts date in Gothic numerals (mdccclxxvii) and WW below the bust (the engraver William Wyon’s initials) alongside die number 21, with 48 border trefoils and the reverse showing crowned cruciform shields and emblems in angles engraved by William Dyce. Maximum Die Number of 258 – Die Number 187 with an 8 over an upside-down 1, the 7 over an upside-down 6 or 8. SPINK’s 2011 catalogue values this at 500 GBP in UNC.
