Snow 8 1883, 83 in denticles. Obv. 13: (RH) A 3 digit is punched prominently into the field above denticles and below 8 & 3 in date (spaced between the digits.) An extra 8, possibly two of them, are also in the denticles below the 88 in date, but not as dramatic. Die State A: Die striations from 12:30 to 6:30. Rev. M: Right shield point connected to the denticles. Left shield point and olive leaf away from denticles. Die state A: Die striations 11:00 to 5:00. Attributed to: Chris Pilliod This is a very bold misplaced digit. This variety is found in numerous die states so I would expect numerous example to be available. In fact this variety is quite scarce. The coin shown is die state A.
