Mintage: 6,377,570
Obverse Dies: 18 Known
The 1886 Philadelphia date offers a significant number of repunched date varieties. None of the repunched varieties are considered rare. Once again, this is a common date that needs further research given its sizable mintage.
Plate Coin: Fortin-119, Minor misplaced 8 digit in gown, 100% toned and wholly original with a superb strike, nice frost and excellent eye-appeal. Both obverse and reverse are toned in shades of green, plum and pale blue-green and are exceptionally clean.

The 1886 Dime is another common date in the later part of the Seated Liberty series. It is common in all grades, including Mint State. Several hundred Mint State examples are known, so the bioggest dilemma for collectors is deciding which one to choose. Even Superb (MS67) examples can be found with relative ease.
Dime researcher Gerry Fortin has identified nineteen different die pairs for this date and we suspect that more will be discovered because of the large mintage.
