VICTORIA 1886 ‘GOTHIC HEAD’ FLORIN with beautiful original toning. Listed in SPINK as S3900 and ESC 863 (The English Silver Coinage From 1649) Rarity S Listed as B9 – Includes britt: and Queen Victoria has a 1mm larger head with hair plait further from the ear. Obverse depicts date in Gothic numerals (mdccclxxxvi) and no WW below the bust (the engraver William Wyon’s initials), with 34 small arc trefoils forming longer arcs and the reverse showing crowned cruciform shields; rose, thistle, rose and shamrock in angles engraved by W.
