Hat Tip Rick Snow S1 1887, Doubled die obverse. Obv. 7: (RE) Pivoted hub doubling with the pivot at 9:00. Wide doubling on AMERICA and feather tips, gradually lessening towards the center of the design. Die stage B: Light die crack through 88 in date. Rev. G: Olive leaf connected to rim. Die stage B: Die crack in right wreath from 5:00 to 3:00 with a section in the field between an oak leaf at 3:00 being very heavy. Die stage C: Die cracks through left ribbon end. another from the rim at 9:00 through left wreath at 7:30. Die stage D: Die cracks from wreath to rim at 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 9:00, 10:00. This is a very popular and dramatic doubled die. It is one of the top 10 varieties in the series. The doubling is only visible on the right side of the obverse, mainly on the feathers and AMERICA. This doubling can be confused with the extra outlines found on the letters of the legend on the 1864 With L to 1886 Type 1 design. This is the real doubled die
